Personal Profile:

I am a reliable worker with proven organisational, analytical and communication skills. I am conscientious and pay close attention to detail.

I worked as a solicitor for several years, working in teams of varying sizes and specialising in non-contentious contract drafting work. I went from assisting on files of senior colleagues to managing my own caseload. During this time I used a variety of online legal databases and websites and worked with IT personnel on a project to create an intranet based legal precedent bank.

I became interested in website work and information management and applied for a year's contract as a graduate trainee librarian at Bath University library. During that year I was a member of the library intranet team and undertook a project about E-books.

I went on to complete a part-time Open University course for a Certificate in Web Applications Development covering topics including website design and planning, software development strategies and web standards, open source technologies, databases and server administration. The course required me to undertake several practical coding projects using a variety of languages and technologies including CSS, HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, ASP & VBScript, ColdFusion, MySQL and PHP. At the same time as studying I undertook paid website projects for local businesses and organisations and developed my graphic design skills through evening courses on photographic manipulation with Adobe Photoshop and extensive use of the open source GNU Image Manipulation Program.

I am now working at a company specialising in web applications for the NHS and health sector where I am carrying out web development using PHP, MySQL, html, CSS and xml. I also deal with client support and training both on the telephone and in face-to-face training sessions around the country.
